Adult Eye Exams
In addition to our extensive pediatric expertise, we also see adults, in particular for diplopia, strabismus, and related problems. This is because a “pediatric ophthalmologist” could also be called a “strabismus ophthalmologist”; however, since the great majority of people with eye alignment problems are children, we are often just called pediatric ophthalmologists for brevity’s sake. We have many adult patients who have eye alignment problems due to cranial nerve palsies, thyroid eye disease, myasthenia gravis, strabismus after eye surgery, and strabismus left over from childhood.
We make every effort to treat conditions using non-surgical techniques and are often able to avoid medical procedures. However, should the need arise, our surgeons maintain privileges at some of the best hospitals in the area and we are able to perform the most cutting edge surgical techniques, including adjustable sutures.
We also see adults without strabismus— for example, adults who were our patients as children, parents of our patients who find it convenient to keep their family’s eye care all in one great place and other adults who have simply heard about our practice and find us a great choice for their regular eye exams. Our experienced team of ophthalmologists, optometrists, opticians, and orthoptists are able to provide quality vision care to adults as well. Whether you require an eyeglasses exam, a contact lens evaluation, or you need to be fitted for a new pair of glasses, the staff at Pediatric Eye Care of MD can provide top-quality services. Although we specialize in children’s eye care, adults receive our same level of professional attention and expertise.
Should you need eyeglasses or contact lenses, our Young Eyes Optical Shop offers a wide variety of options for adults. Our trained opticians can expertly fit you for the appropriate pair of glasses and then custom-craft a pair that has been customized to your unique measurements.
With four locations in Baltimore, Clarksville, and Westminster, or offices are convenient to patients throughout Maryland. In addition, we offer regular appointments on evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays to ensure that it is easy to for you to find a time for your eye exam.
We are very proud of the fact that over our years of service, we have served generations of the same family. Patients who came to us as children and adolescents now bring their own children to see us because they know they will continue to receive exceptional care.
